Harbour Update – 07/05/25

The Russian White Fronted Goose was still at Swineham Point first thing alongside the usual Canada Geese. A single White Tailed Eagle was also seen from Swineham point along with 2 Marsh Harriers, 3 Hobby and 3 Red Kite.

Perhaps the same White Tailed Eagle was then seen chasing gulls during a private charter of ours tours this afternoon?

Several sightings of Whimbrel around the harbour with at least 3 at Arne and a single Spotted Flycatcher in the woodland there. There was a Hobby at Holton Lee and 5 Ringed Plover at Lytchett Bay.

During the afternoon, 2 Curlew Sandpipers were spotted on the Brownsea Lagoon from a private charter boat tour. Finally, a steady stream of hirundines (Swallow, House Martin and Sand Martin) overhead and reports of Swifts making it back to several of their usual nesting sites.

Still no sign of any Red-footed Falcons nearby. Keep looking everyone!
