After a cloudy start, the new mini heatwave kicked in and a glorious day was to be had. Being late in the season and a hot, clear afternoon, the south coast White-tailed Eagles were on the move with 4 different individuals seen in the west of the harbour this afternoon, including one of the Exmoor translocated juveniles from this year, which seems to already be exploring it’s new natal range in Southern England. There were also still at least 3 different Osprey around today, including our 2-year old male 5H6 which was eating a flatfish on his new favourite perch at RSPB Arne. A Glossy Ibis was feeding in the Wareham Channel again, the Wood Sandpiper was still on RSPB Arne Moors, the Brownsea Lagoon hosted 64 Spoonbill and there was 1 Merlin, 1 Goshawk and 3 Great White Egret out in the Wareham Channel with 3 Peregrine interacting high above it too. Middlebere hosted 4 Spotted Redshank, 2 Greenshank, 10 Knot, 18 Pintail, 1 Great White Egret and 3 Green Sandpiper.
