Harbour Update – posted 12/05/19

Gentle easterlies breeze today, hoping for some interesting species to be brought in. Here in the HQ we had views of 8 Swallows passing over and c10 Sandwich Terns foraging in the harbour. Other than the usual wildfowl, Poole Park had some interesting birds including singing Whitethroat and Reed Warbler. Brownsea lagoon was quiet in the morning visited by more waders in the afternoon; 4 Knot, 74 Dunlin, c16 Black-tailed Godwit, c12 Bar-tailed Godwit, as well as 2 Spoonbill, 200+ Sandwich Tern, 100+ Common Tern. Rockley had views of Peregrine Falcon, Buzzard, Dartford Warbler, Little Egret and Shelduck. Lytchett Fields hosted 18 Black-tailed Godwit, 8 Ringed Plover, 4 Dunlin and an Oystercatcher this morning. In Osprey news, we had a blue ringed Osprey checking in to some of our nests including the Middlebere nest – potentially CJ7 visiting again!

Blue -ringed Osprey on the Middlebere platform this AM – CJ7 again?
