Harbour Update – 07/11/26

Although the fog didn’t really lift until well after midday, as is often the case, when a good bird is found, it’s not unusual for other decent birds to appear due to the increased coverage of that area. With yesterdays Pectoral Sandpiper being the counties first of the year, unsurprisingly it attracted quite a bit of interest and whilst searching for it this AM a lone Russian White-fronted Goose was initially heard at dawn and then found later with the Canada Goose flock. There were also a number of Common Snipe feeding on the pools at Swineham, with a Jack Snipe found amoungst them and the Pectoral Sandpiper was still on the Curlew Pools. Also in the Swineham area were 7 Great White Egret, 1 male Pochard on the main pit and 8 Marsh Harrier, 3 Spotted Redshank and 8 Spoonbill. This morning 3 Eider flew in through the harbour entrance.
