Pretty grim weather in the harbour today with heavy rain all morning, but that didn’t stop the birds from showing well. Never be put off by the weather! From our Osprey Cruises we had the White-tailed Eagle pair in the Wareham Channel this morning along with a minimum of 7 Osprey (with 4 fish catches) this afternoon. Also present were 15 Spoonbill on the low tide this morning as well as 2 Grey Plover, c500 Black-tailed Godwit, 3 Greenshank, 3 Marsh Harrier and 1 Peregrine.
Some arrivals on the Brownsea Lagoon today, likely put down by the rain, including 1 Garganey, 1 Little Stint and 1 Curlew Sandpiper. Also present were 24 Spoonbill, c50 Ringed Plover, c30 Avocet, c300 Dunlin, 4 Greenshank, 3 Knot, 6 Whimbrel, 3 Grey Plover 8 SanderlingĀ and 1 juvenile Peregrine hunting the waders this afternoon. A juvenile Caspian Gull was also reported on the Lagoon. At Lytchett Fields this afternoon there were 15 Greenshank, 3 Green Sandpiper, 2 Spotted Redshank, 1 Common Sandpiper, 15 Common Snipe and in the bay 3 Osprey and 1 Marsh Harrier.
