Really lovely calm conditions across the harbour today, albeit with a bit of mizzle first thing, although that soon passed on through. Best of the day included the White-tailed Eagle pair in the Wareham Channel this morning with a lunchtime visit to Middlebere, the Long-tailed Duck was off Jerry’s Point where there were also 6 Great Northern Diver, 2 Slavonian Grebe, 2 Eider, 2 Black-necked Grebe, 1 Red-throated Diver and 7 Goldeneye. Out in Studland Bay there was a disappointing 6 Black-necked Grebe in the evening roost, also 6 Common Scoter and 1 Great Northern Diver off there. This evening a ringtail Hen Harrier was quartering Lytchett Bay and tonight at our Sunnyside ringing demo our group were treated to a good haul of 3 Woodcock, 2 Jack Snipe, 1 Common Snipe, 1 Redwing and 1 Skylark.
