Harbour Update – posted 12/08/24

With a heart full of hope and an easterly airflow, dreams of Aquatic Warblers in the morning mist nets seemed like a real possibility this morning. However, bird dreams rarely come true, and the reality was a quiet morning for bird ringing at several sites across the harbour this AM. Grasshopper Warblers, Garden Warblers, Sedge Warblers, Willow and Reed Warblers were caught at the Carey Secret Garden Ringing Station and Lytchett Fields in small numbers, a Cuckoo was also at Lytchett Fields this afternoon. Ospreys were logged at Middlebere, the Wareham Channel and Lytchett Bay as were Marsh Harriers. A migrant Tree Pipit flew over Carey Secret Garden.
