Harbour Update – posted 08/11/21

It’s been a bit of a mizzly day, but we’ve a nice handful of sightings nonetheless. There were 4 Marsh Harrier, as well as a male Merlin, reported at Lytchett Fields this morning. In Lytchett Bay, 5+ Water Pipit were counting, building on yesterday’s numbers, as well as a nice record of a Norwegian orange colour-ringed Rock Pipit. In Parkstone Bay, 6 Brent Geese, in addition to 70+ Cormorant were seen this morning, and 13 Turnstone and 4 Sandwich Tern were seen from Baiter. Over in Poole Park, the single Red-breasted Merganser is still present, as well as 1 Little Grebe and 1 Redshank also reported. Finally, the 2 Snow Bunting were still present at Redhorn Point at Studland this morning. This evening a true winter vibe immersed with 2 Hen Harrier, 2 Merlin, 6 Marsh Harrier and a Short-eared Owl were all logged between Swineham and Middlebere.
