Despite the strong wind today, there was some decent birding with the breeze delivering a fly through Little Tern this AM during our Autumn Safari Cruise. Other highlights from the trip included 108 Spoonbill, with the potential for the Poole Harbour record (116) to be broken over the coming week. The autumns first dark-bellied Brent Goose arrived with a lone bird sat out in the middle of the harbour, there were 2 Curlew Sandpiper in the Wareham Channel with a mixed Dunlin and Ringed Plover flock, 2 Great Great White Egret, 1 Spotted Redshank and 4-5 Marsh Harrier were out on Arne Moors, an un-ringed Osprey was also in the Wareham Channel, c300 Avocet were on the Brownsea Lagoon with 20 Bar-tailed Godwit. At Lytchett Fields there was 1 Curlew Sandpiper with 15 Dunlin and there was a lone Barnacle Goose with Canada Geese on Arne Moors and 2 Spoonbill and 160 Wigeon in Holes Bay.
