Harbour Update – 27/10/2026

A slightly more pleasant day to be out birding in the harbour to say the least! BoPH were out this morning running our first urban birding walk of the winter, along Poole Quay and Baiter Park. Best sighting of the event was a flock of 42 Linnet. Other sightings in the harbour today included 1 Spotted Redshank, 2 Green Sandpiper, and 4 Greenshank which were present at Lytchett Fields. A flock of c100 Fieldfare were seen arriving back in over Middlebere, heading west over the heath. 2 juvenile White-tailed Eagle, likely 2026 birds from the Exmoor and Isle of Wight translocation, were seen this morning at Middlebere interacting with each other. Number of winter wetland birds are really starting to build up in Holes Bay, with an additional bonus of 5 Spoonbill feeding seen from the viewing screen at Upton Country Park. 1 lone Black-necked Grebe was seen this afternoon off Jerry’s Point, Studland.
