With the howling SE winds today, there could well be some new arrivals in the harbour now, but we need things to settle slightly so some open water can be observed. It’s been rather ‘scoter shy’ so far this year, so a few Common, Velvet or even a nice Surf Scoter wouldn’t go a miss. Neither would a raft of Long-tailed Duck or Eider….we’ll keep looking! In the mean time we had to do with the 30+ White-fronted Geese in the Frome Valley, 2 Glossy Ibis and 55 Cattle Egret were in the Piddle Valley plus the Pochard was on Poole Park boating Lake still.
