A quieter day sightings wise in the harbour, but some exciting news to share. We can now confirm that Ospreys 1H1 and 374’s two chicks, 5R7 and 5R8 from this years new nest (nest 2) have fledged successfully and have now been flying around for a couple of weeks! What a fantastic season it’s been. In other news, this morning in Holes Bay there was an increase of Black-tailed Godwit, with 183 spotted heading north-west including a couple of juveniles. Also there were 171 Redshank, 11 Dunlin, and 8 Teal heading north-west. Dartford Warblers including juveniles were active on Upton Heath. On the Asda flats in Poole, both adult Peregrine Falcons of the pair were present this morning. Despite the stronger wind this morning, a successful bird ringing session was had at the Lower Piddle Valley, with 63 new birds including 31 Sedge Warbler, 7 Grasshopper Warbler, 7 Whitethroat, 2 Tree Pipit, 2 Nightjar, 2 Spotted Flycatcher, and 5 Stonechat.
