Another nice calm day allowing for listening and viewing with more migrants on the move. During the morning c50 Crossbill, were on the edge of Greenland’s Farm and at Swineham c40 Sand Martin were over the gravel pit at dusk. At Holton Lee 2 Wheatear were in the back-fields and the Little Owl was behind the brick cottage. With short bursts of sunshine numerous Buzzard were soaring and displaying and a pair of Sparrowhawk were really active over the Piddle Valley. At Shell Bay a small flock of Sanderling remain including a couple of ringed birds. At dawn a ringtail Hen Harrier circled up high over the Wareham Channel before departing NE and a Merlin was on Hartland Moor. In the Wareham Channel 7 Spoonbill fed on the big low tide and 8 Cattle Egret left the roost and headed west, probably towards Holme and Bog Lane.
