The weather came in a bit today, and raised the hope of maybe a bit of passage out in Poole Bay, but alas, no such luck with just a few Wigeon, Gannet and 1 Kittiwake. There was however a massive sinensis Cormorant flock off the Brownsea Lagoon wall this morning, potentially up to a four figure count. We’ve hit around the c900 mark before, but never knowingly logged 1000+, so it would be good to try and at confirm a high count in the coming days as we reach the period for peak totals. The autumns first Black-necked Grebe was in Studland Bay this afternoon, the Spoonbill flock were spread between Lytchett Bay, Brownsea, Middlebere and the Wareham Channel.
A cool start to the morning, with a small amount of vis-mig, mostly Meadow Pipit and Pied Wagtails….
