Harbour Update – 05/09/26

There was a great fall of common migrants up on Ballard this morning, mostly of Common Chiffchaff (100+) and Blackcap (15) but also 5 Wheatear, 9 Common Whitethroat, 1 Garden Warbler, 1 Lesser Whitethroat, 1 Tree Pipit, 5 Yellow Wagtail, 2 Willow Warbler and 1 Sedge Warbler. The White-tailed Eagle pair were in the Wareham Channel area all day along with 5+ Osprey, also 2 Glossy Ibis still in the Wareham Channel, 2 Hobby were having a fight with the newly arrived Marsh Harriers, 3 Great White Egret and c250 sinensis Cormorant. The Brownsea Lagoon held 3 Spoonbill, 40 Avocet, 20 Ringed Plover, 40 Dunlin, 5 Common Sandpiper  and 6 Turnstone. There are now 31 Wigeon in Holes Bay north, plus 2 Osprey were seen hunting there. At Lytchett Fields 2 Spotted Redshank were still out feeding on the fields.
