With the first day of October feeling more like the first day of May, it wasn’t much of a surprise that there weren’t too many new winter arrivals today, however the Black-necked Grebe that arrived in the Wareham Channel on Saturday has found a friend with 2 present today in the same area. The Spoonbill flock remained at 115 today on the Brownsea Lagoon and there were 2 Common Scoter out in Studland Bay off Knoll Beach. With no Osprey sightings for over a week it was good to see one arrive in over Studland bay this morning before it seemed to track over Rempstone towards Arne. There were 2 Wheatear at Greenlands Farm along with 2 Yellowhammer, 5 Lesser Redpoll and 4 Crossbill over there. A Great White Egret was off Ham Common viewpoint and another was at Middlebere. At Lytchett Fields there was singles of Ruff and Little Stint with several Green Sandpiper. A Green Sandpiper was heard over Hatch Pond too.
