'Birds of Poole Harbour' goes live........

Well, after months of blood, sweat and beers the new 'Birds of Poole Harbour' website is finally here!

BOPH (as we will be calling it) is proud to announce that we are up and running as a fully functional resource to help birdwatchers and naturalists, beginners and experts, young or old, learn and understand a bit more about this vast haven for birds. Dorset is claimed to be one of the most bio-diverse counties in the country, with it's ever changing landscapes, mesmerizing range of habitats and beautifully complex eco-systems it's no wonder the birds flourish.

The concept has been inspired by other such websites that celebrate Dorset's wealth of bird life. For example the wonderfully detailed 'CHOG' website (Christchuch Harbour Ornithological Group), , and Portland’s information rich 'Portland Bird Observatory' website, . As well as the many bird obsessed bloggers who keep meticulous records of birds and wildlife in their local areas....they truly make great reading.

BOPH would firstly like to thank all the local birders and naturalists for their input onto the site. Without their wealth of knowledge there just wouldn't be a website to make. BOPH would also like to thank the National Trust, Dorset Wildlife Trust, The Sandbanks Hotel and the Sound Approach for their outstanding co-operation in allowing us to set up the Brownsea Lagoon webcam, this will no-doubt entertain many people for many, many hours. We would also like to thank Beetleweb, the creators of this elegant website who have been ridiculously easy to work with over the last six months. The RSPB for allowing us to help with their winter Birdboat tours, hopefully making them bigger and better than ever, and lastly, BOPH would like to thank you...the visitors to this site, who we hope by taking the time to read the sites content will learn at least one thing you didn't know before.

Many thanks again, and we look forward to seeing you out in the field!
